About this list
Learning chess in Copenhagen usually means joining a club's junior group, but the city also has places whose main work is teaching. Skakkens Hus in Sølvgade, the house of Dansk Skoleskak, runs courses in five levels of seven lessons each for children, young people and adults, and Amager Skakskole, which marked its centenary in 2026, trains juniors at Prismen twice a week. Dansk Skoleskak itself runs school-chess programmes and tournaments for pupils.
On Frederiksberg, Skak for sjov teaches children from the age of five, and the Skaksalon in the same building lists an adult beginners' course. Most clubs add training of their own: ØBRO for juniors and for adults on Mondays, and Gentofte, Caïssa Gladsaxe, Odysseus, Furesø, Brøndby and Ishøj for their young members. The union's junior tournaments are listed here as well.
