Lynskak, Danish for blitz, is chess at a few minutes per player, and around Copenhagen it is mostly played inside club evenings rather than at separate events. Nørrebro Skakklub usually holds a blitz tournament on the first Thursday of the month, and Skakforeningen ØBRO has run numbered Thursday blitz evenings under the name Torsdagslyn, listed among FIDE-rated events.

Lyngby-Virum Skakklub fills its Wednesday evenings with blitz or rapid chess, and Herlev, Sjælsø, Odysseus and Ishøj count blitz among what their club nights offer. Sjælsø Skakklub also plays a lightning championship of its own in late spring, alongside its rapid championship.
